European Road Safety Charter

Today, the Inžinierske stavby, a. s. Company, along with other companies belonging to Colas Slovakia are, the only companies in Slovakia that participate in the program of the European Road Safety Charter. The aim of this document of the European Union is to implement effective measures targeted at a reduction of the accident rate on European roads and reduction of the number of fatal accidents by at least 50% until the year 2010.

The signatories of the European Road Safety Charter  have undertaken to contribute to accident prevention by the provision of training and information to drivers, by equipment and ergonomics of road vehicles as well as by improvements of the road infrastructure that minimizes the risk of accident occurrence. The experts from the COLAS group actively participate in the development and improvement of building machines and equipment used on roads. Based on our proposals manufacturers have implemented many technical solutions, for instance, audio safety elements, additional rearview mirrors, and cameras.

Road safety has become a part of our corporate culture. In 1997 the COLAS group undertook to reduce the accident rate by 25%, in 2001 the group renewed this undertaking and extended it by another 5%, and in the year 2004 our representatives signed the Charter for the third time.

We are not only users but also builders of roads and a lot of construction work is carried out under full traffic conditions. We precisely monitor and check compliance with the principles of occupational safety, operation and parking of building machinery and equipment in order to prevent accidents and injuries.
